Freeware file compression utility for Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003
Introduction
WinGZip is an small freeware utility for working with files produced by
gzip utility (usually it's files with .gz or .tgz extension) and also create
such files. Main features include the compressing, decompressing and testing
the integrity of gzip files.
The gzip (GNU zip) is an command line driven compression utility with
excellent compression, free from patented algorithms and currently very
popular on the Internet. gzip is not archiving utility, i.e. its can't roll
up several files together. It simply compress the specified file.
The format of the .gz files generated by gzip and their compression
alogrithm (deflate) is described in RFCs (Request For Comments) 1951
and 1952. More information about gzip, you can find on it homepage at gzip.org.
System requirements
- any system running Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000 or Windows XP.
- less than 0.6 Megabytes of free space on hard disk.

Installation
WinGZip is very simple utility and, for this reason, does not demand any
installation utility. Simply unzip all files to any folder and run the
executable file (usually, "wingzip.exe").
Overview
After starting the program, on the screen should appear the main program
window with tree pages: "Compress", "Decompress" and "Test". For performance
of any operation, switch onto appropriate page, by clicking on its header or
by pressing a combination of Ctrl+Tab keys. Click on the copyright notice at
right bottom corner of window for visit the program homepage.

Command line parameters
Currently, WinGZip don't support any command line parameters except the name
of file to processing. If you prefer to work with command line, you always
can use the original GZIP utility :).
